The elements seem to be very against the proceedings, as when it is not raining or cloudy (70% cloud cover), it is expected to be very sunny, with a UV index of 8 being forecast as the high. The temperature is expected to hit 28 °C (82.4 °F) in the afternoon, with winds also expected to pick up speed, with gusts hitting as high as 41 km/h (25.4 mph). Friday to be more of the same for the Chevron Championship

For players looking for some respite from Thursday’s proceedings, there is bad news. While the chance of rain is slightly reduced, with a 70% chance of precipitation and a 42 % chance of thunderstorms. But the duration, if it takes place, is going to be longer. Wind is expected to maintain the same momentum from Thursday, with wind speed hitting 39 km/h (24.2 mph).

When there is no rain, there is cloud cover expected, with 75% being forecast. If there are no clouds, it is expected to be very sunny as well, with a UV index the same as Thursday (8). The temperature is expected to hit 29 °C (84.2 °F). In short, Friday is expected to be a slightly more extreme version of Thursday.

Raincoats are a must for fans who will be attending the tournament, and the thunderstorm probabilities during both days will be a concern for the organizers. It will be interesting to see how the organizers, fans, and participants navigate the challenge posed by the weather during this  year’s proceedings.

Play being suspended is nothing new. Just last year, the Round 3 proceedings were affected significantly by the compromising weather conditions. This eventually led to the play being suspended till the start of the next day, with the rest of the round taking place on Sunday.
