‘Cheers’ Never Got To Film Its Most Daring Episode

Even decades after it went off the air, Cheers remains one of the most beloved and influential sitcoms of all time. Its age-defying writing, perfectly crafted setting, and dynamic characters have helped solidify its place as a classic. However, it’s important to remember just how groundbreaking it was at the time. It may seem tame by today’s standards, but Cheers often took on heavy social issues. Sadly, though, a planned episode that was to shed light on the HIV/AIDs epidemic never made it to the sound stage, due to various circumstances. It’s a shame, because Cheers was truly the perfect show to take on the hefty and timely topic.
