Amid the rising tide of predictable music, Chase & Status return with Generic Everything, a multi-genre, ten-track album.

Drum and bass mainstays Chase & Status — the duo respectively comprised of Saul Milton and Will Kennard — are no strangers to bending genres. Since 2003, they have fused jungle, dubstep, grime, UK garage, and hip-hop into their signature sound.

Their latest album, Generic Everything, takes this cross-pollination even further. Through high-profile collaborations with artists like Skrillex, J Hus, IRAH, Saam Sultan, Little Simz, Debbie, Blanco, FinesseKid, and Ledbyher, Chase & Status usher in a new era that seamlessly integrates elements of soul, R&B, rock, rave, rap, and sound system culture.

Released on 2RUFF Records, Generic Everything rejects society’s pressure to force original music into a rigid, singular mold — one symbolized by the scaffolding cube on the album cover. The project delivers several standout bangers right from the start. The opening track, “Disgruntled,” features J Hus and IRAH, blending Chase & Status’s powerful drum and bass foundation with heavy dancehall.

Turning to a more soulful sound, “Gone Too Far” showcases Debbie‘s supreme vocals. Keeping the melodic momentum going, IRAH and Col3trane team up on “Shutdown” to fuse smooth R&B with raw rave energy. Then, the album shifts gears with “Essa Ta Quente,” a collaboration with Skrillex that masterfully pairs sound system culture with heavy UK bass.

“Carnage” leans on Little Simz’s sharp lyricism, while “Timber” brings in Giggs to anchor a darker, slower bass tempo. Rounding out these heavyweight collaborations is “Levels,” featuring grime legend D Double E‘s rapid-fire vocal delivery. Throughout the project, Milton plays live guitar on multiple tracks, injecting the album with raw, Prodigy-esque energy.

Generic Everything signifies the group’s bold move into a new era, one where they question everything to cultivate an eclectic, boundary-pushing sonic palette. The album shows that Chase & Status refuse to conform to anyone’s standards, choosing instead to keep everyone guessing. Audiences can experience the album live as the duo take the Generic Everything tour across Europe and the United Kingdom in 2027.
