All good things must come to an end. As cliched as that sounds, it’s something the Canes are coming to terms with in real-time. Their relationship with Cam Ward was only a year-long stopgap. Yet, divorce and detachment are difficult. But a new sun rises over Coral Gables. Peep over the proverbial horizon and Carson Beck is standing there, waiting to rever himself to the Miami faithful, his contemporaries and head coach Mario Cristobal. The Canes have shed a lot to acquire his services in terms of NIL. So, as the time to reciprocate that investment of resource and belief approaches, Beck has received some motivation from one of his earliest, closest fans.

Carson Beck’s Georgia stint was a mixed bag, to put it lightly. But even while he was the most polarizing man in Athens, he had his sister, Kylie Beck, by his side. Kylie was also a student at UGA. In fact, she was part of the Bulldogs’ cheerleading squad. Quite literally dancing joyously every time her brother exuded his skill. So now that he embarks on a fresh chapter after transferring to Miami, she’s making sure her love and support remain. If not in the flesh, then vicariously.

Earlier this month, Carson Beck saw a major development amid his rehab from elbow surgery. He finally got cleared to throw the football after hurting it in the SEC Championship game against Texas right at the stroke of half-time. An attempted ‘Hail Mary’ transpired into an ‘Oh, Jesus’ for the Beck. It turned out to be his last game for Georgia, But alas, he’s progressing positively. Now, Mario Cristobal has leveraged another update on his new QB1.

“[What’s] really encouraging for us is [Carson Beck is] almost a 100%. And I’m talking about maybe a week away from being there. I mean, he’s been throwing for weeks now. He joins our team on Sunday, and everything is full throttle. There are no limitations for him. He looks great,” said Mario Cristobal in an interview with Josh Pate. In light of his good news, Kylie Beck took to her IG stories and said 4 resounding things. Things that serve as motivational reminders for Carson, and warnings for his cynics.

“A fighter. An inspiration. A leader. A role model,” wrote Kylie Beck, alongside a couple of  “🙌🙌” emojis. This caption was accompanied by a graphic relaying Mario Cristobal’s aforementioned quote. Those are some heavy superlatives to associate with a player that’s coming off a down season. However, try telling her that! Or Carson Beck, for that matter. Who’ll look to shrug off any residue from the 2024 season and look ahead to his final year in College Football. His tryst with proving his worth and elevating his plunging NFL Draft stock. As if that isn’t enough pressure, one national analyst has placed a ton of onus on the signal caller.

Carson Beck will have to channel his best self to meet the standards set by his predecessor

Speaking over the On3 YouTube channel, J.D. PicKell hypothesized the dreamy yet tangible scenario where the Carson Beck-spearheaded Hurricanes win the ACC. See, Miami did start last year 9-0 and came close to the feat with Cam Ward in the backfield. But the collective strength of the team, especially defensively, is better now. Meaning the responsibility to deliver hardware isn’t alleviated, and falls onto Beck now. “I have to believe [that] if Miami wins the ACC, they’re doing it because Carson Beck is slinging that thing,” said PicKell. Implying that Miami can’t do it unless Beck performs at the requisite level.

PicKell proceeded to talk about how the Canes’ offense is catered around Carson Beck’s best trait: His arm. Throwing dots downfield is something an optimal Beck has proven he’s capable of. “That’s what the offense is built for. It’s built to push the football downfield…they want to take shots vertically,” he said.

“If they win the ACC, I happen to feel like [Carson Beck] probably played like a first-round pick. And probably played his way into being a first-round pick,” remarked J.D. PicKell. This instinctively sounds outlandish unless you were around in 2023. When Beck was considered a unanimous Day 1 pick in the draft. The best QB on the collegiate level, for many. One year is an eternity in football. Carson Beck will hope he can have a renaissance of sorts and recapture his form and reputation. As will Kylie Beck and Mario Cristobal.
