Bianca Andreescu got some redemption at the Italian Open on Sunday.
The Canadian beat Elena Rybakina 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the Round of 16 after losing to her at the Madrid Open last month.
Andreescu lost to Rybakina in the three prior meetings between the two in straight sets.
This is just the fourth event of the season for Andreescu, but she has now advanced to the fourth round in Rome for the first time since 2022. She beat No. 20 seed Donna Vekic in the second round.
The 24-year-old will face another seeded player in the next round, either No. 8 seed Zheng Qinwen of China or No. 26 seed Magdalena Frech of Poland.
