Calls Mount Against Aaron Rodgers’ Steelers Signing as Cam Heyward Throws Outcast QB Under the Bus for Indecision

Aaron Rodgers is still out here playing the will-he-won’t-he game, and Steelers captain Cam Heyward has had enough. On his Not Just Football podcast, the veteran defensive tackle didn’t hold back, saying he’s “tired of talking about the quarterback situation” and just wants it sorted already. Rodgers, meanwhile, is still weighing his options—Steelers, Giants, Vikings, or just calling it quits altogether.

And if Rodgers is waiting for some fancy recruitment pitch from Pittsburgh, Heyward’s got a pretty simple one: “Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t.” He even shut down the idea of joining Rodgers on one of those weird retreats—like the whole sitting-in-darkness-for-days thing. “I ain’t doing that darkness retreat, I don’t need any of that crap,” he said. Message received.

But here’s the problem—Heyward’s confidence in the Steelers’ name alone might not be enough to land Rodgers. Joe Starkey pointed out that the Steelers don’t have the same pull they did a decade ago. Back then, their name alone could attract star players, but now? Not so much. They haven’t won a playoff game in almost ten years, their offense feels straight out of the Stone Age, and even their defense—once their pride and joy—got called out for giving up mid-playoff game. Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey even hinted that things aren’t exactly great behind the scenes. So, if Rodgers is looking for a Super Bowl-ready squad, Pittsburgh might not be his best bet.

At the end of the day, the Steelers need a quarterback badly, but they also aren’t in a position to act like Rodgers should be begging to join them. Sure, his decision-making process is dragging on, but maybe he’s not the only one who should be taking a long, hard look at the situation.
