Do you like an enemies-to-lovers trope? If yes, you need not look around for a better plot than what’s cooking in the Golden State Warriors’ squad. It’s simple, the bromance that Buddy Hield and Jimmy Butler show as banter is nothing but pure entertainment. Right after ravaging the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on Sunday’s mega Game 7, both veterans were back with their shenanigans.
The star of the show, Buddy, with an insane 33-point run, spoke to the media in a postgame presser. But as soon as he saw Jimmy enter, “Jimmy Butler, everybody,” the 31-year-old forward kept saying. Thump! Thump! Thump! “Jimmy Butler.” With a ‘get him off the stage’ look on his face, the 35-year-old forward pushed Hield with a smile and sat before the media.
However, one message that Buddy Hield made sure everyone knew seems to have backfired on him. Taking to his Instagram, Mr. Playoffs trolled his homie with a Batman, Spongebob video edit, captioned: “I’m the captain now.” Two suited animated men, one with Curry’s face and the other with Buddy’s face, photoshopped, are having a conversation. ‘Buddy’ says that he’s Batman. Meanwhile, sitting in the Krusty Krab, photoshopped Draymond and Jimmy stare in disbelief. Now, ‘Steph’ had to burst the bubble, so he told photoshopped Buddy Hield, “It’s alright, Alfred.”
Well, it doesn’t look like this back-and-forth between the Warriors’ hoopers is going to end any time soon. However, don’t you want to know why Jimmy trolled Buddy in the first place?
Buddy Hield’s postgame fun returned to bite him back as Jimmy Butler turned full-time troll
The Golden State Warriors sent the Rockets packing with a 103-89 Game 7 win, and Buddy Hield made sure the postgame show was just as fiery. He dropped a career-high 33 points and took the mic like a seasoned stand-up. The moment belonged to him—and he knew it. After all, he once called himself “Alfred” to Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler’s “Batman and Robin.” But after his Game 7 heroics, the roles flipped. “Jimmy Butler, everybody,” Hield smirked as Butler sat down for his press conference. The room was already laughing.
Then came the encore. Butler tried to wave him off—“Get off the stage!”—but Hield wasn’t done. Not even close. “Jimmy Butler, tell them you’re not Robin no more. He’s Alfred! His name is Butler,” he shouted while strutting out of the media room.
But just when Buddy thought he won the banter war, Jimmy struck back—Instagram-style. A meme, a Spongebob edit, and a savage “I’m the captain now” later, the joke was back on Buddy. So, who’s really Batman now? Stay tuned. This Warriors sitcom isn’t wrapping up anytime soon.
