Remember the fierce rivalry between Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar? The two heavyweight legends clashed twice between 2008 and 2009, splitting victories in one of the most heated — and unforgettable — feuds in MMA history. Now, it seems that rivalry could be reignited through the next generation. Both Mir and Lesnar have daughters blazing their own athletic paths: Bella Mir is already a professional MMA fighter, while Mya Lesnar is making waves as an NCAA standout. As both continue to rise, whispers in the MMA community are calling for a future showdown that could redefine the sport’s legacy.

Back in 2008, Brock Lesnar was about to make his UFC debut after making a big name for himself in WWE. Known for his exceptional wrestling skills and athletic prowess, the UFC wanted the WWE star to take on the then-former heavyweight champion, Frank Mir. Despite having only one professional fight under his belt — and that too in K-1 Dynamite — Lesnar was biting off more than he could chew. Mir was visibly confused by the matchup, as he never expected the UFC to pit him against someone like Lesnar, who was still an amateur in MMA.

Their first showdown at UFC 81 ended in a harsh lesson for Lesnar—his lack of Jiu-Jitsu left him exposed, and he suffered a brutal submission loss. A year later, fueled by fire and revenge, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ demanded a rematch with Frank Mir. Their rivalry escalated beyond the cage, fueled by savage trash talk. Mir even shockingly declared he wanted to watch Lesnar “die inside the Octagon.”(He later apologized for it)

At UFC 100, Mir entered brimming with confidence, ready to finish Lesnar once and for all. But Lesnar flipped the script and unleashed a devastating knockout in the second round, brutally avenging his earlier loss and silencing the doubters. With Lesnar’s victory, their rivalry came to a close; since then, neither fighter has crossed paths, not even behind the scenes. However, fans now seem eager to see their rivalry reignite—this time, through their children.

Mya Lesnar and Bella Mir are both excelling in their respective sports. Mya, a standout in track and field, recently secured her fourth consecutive Mountain West Conference shot put title with a winning throw of 18.61 meters. Earlier in March 2024, Lesnar won the NCAA Division I Indoor National Championship with a throw of approximately 18.20 meters. In addition to that, back in December 2023, she set a new Colorado State University women’s shot-put record with a throw of 18.5 meters. However, she has yet to start her MMA journey. But what about Bella Mir?

Frank Mir’s daughter has already made a name for herself in the realm of combat sports. With a professional MMA record of 3-0, Mir has finished two of her three fights in the very first round, showcasing dominance when it matters most. She has competed in both the featherweight and flyweight categories. ‘Lady’ last fought in December 2024 against Gabrielle Best at Fury Pro Grappling 12, and won.

For those who don’t know, Bella and Mya are approximately 23; however, while Bella has already begun her MMA career, Mya is still focused on her track and field commitments. Regardless, fans are speculating about a potential future matchup between the pair. We are more certain about Bella Mir’s combat readiness, but Mya Lesnar has yet to choose a martial arts discipline to pursue. Hypothetically, if Lesnar decides to make a step forward to MMA, then their fight might take years to happen.

With both Lesnar and Mir taking baby steps in their respective careers, the  MMA community has come forward to express their willingness to witness the rivalry bloom once again.

Should the Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir rivalry continue through their kids?

After the era of Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes, the women’s bantamweight division has experienced a drought in star power. Currently, Julianna Peña reigns supreme over the division, but her upcoming opponent, Kayla Harrison, has vowed to dethrone her at UFC 316. But Rousey and Nunes’ departures have significantly impacted the division. So, one fan remains optimistic about its future, drawing hope from the way stars like Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir once revitalized their own weight class: “Women’s Bantamweight is saved.”

Mya Lesnar reportedly weighs around 135 lbs, and Bella Mir has a flyweight, catchweight, and featherweight bout in her 3-0 record. So, it’s safe to bet on bantamweight being their battleground if this fight ever comes to fruition. Are the fans giving Hunter Campbell ideas for the long term? Well, they sure seem to hope so as one comment read, “Don’t give Hunter ideas.”

Moreover, a social media user highlighted that we might witness legacy fights between daughters and sons of fighters, just like the recent Chris Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn fight, “In the next decades, hopefully we do see kids of legends fighting each other”. Another social media user believes that Mya Lesnar vs. Bella Mir could amount to“The new Eubank vs Benn.” Furthermore, another fan added, “Legacy war. I like it.”

Last but not the least, a social media user believes that the induction of Mir and Lesnar to the UFC roster might save the shaky condition of the women’s MMA: “Omg this would be such a epic showdown. It would save women’s MMA.”

Both Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir have supported their daughters throughout their lives in whichever sport they chose to pursue. But would they agree to a superfight between their daughters?
