After Friday’s humiliating loss, the Yankees were once again handed a brutal 18-2 loss. By the end of Saturday night, the Dodgers showed the Yankees who controls the World Series narrative. And guess what? Yankees’ former legend Derek Jeter agrees too. Postgame, he admitted that the Dodgers make a better team than the Yankees.
Right after the game, Aaron Boone, speaking with YES Network, opened up about his team’s performance against the Dodgers. Little did he know what was coming afterwards. Pressing on pitcher Will Warren’s outing, he said, “Just just a little off command, and, you know, and then in the heart of the plate with some pitches that, um, you know, obviously a dangerous group over there and really made him pay, and obviously, you know, having to work as hard as he did through that first inning, just just obviously not his day.” The thing is, the Dodgers went all in to knock Warren out. Right after 1.1 innings, Warren was out after the Dodgers scored four runs.
The Dodgers had 14 of their pitchers on the injured list. Yet, at no given point did they look in danger of losing the lead. They entered the series having lost 7 of their last 12 games. However, against the Yankees, it didn’t seem like it. They were quick to set the tone. They crushed Yankees’ Max Fried, and then they dominated starter Will Warren in both the games.
Across 13 innings, the Dodgers outscored the Yankees 24-2. Only Aaron Judge from the entire lineup was the one who the Dodgers couldn’t edge out. He hit three home runs in this series

For the Dodgers as a whole, Boone admitted, “I mean, they’re tough, obviously, and they’ve swung it here good against us the last two nights, and we’ve another opportunity to go out there and try and hold them down a bit.” Apparently, Yankees Nation didn’t buy it. Already infuriated with the team’s trajectory, they all turned their frustration to general manager Brian Cashman.
Cause, according to them, Cashman is the one ultimately responsible for how the Yankees are performing and how Boone is managing the team. They called out his leadership and held him accountable for the Yankees’ back-to-back humiliating losses.
Yankees Nation has had enough of Brian Cashman
Brian Cashman has served as the Yankees’ general manager and senior vice president since 1998. On the other hand, Aaron Boone has led the team to the playoffs in five of his six seasons. Not to forget, the Yankees’ World Series appearance in 2024. Yet, fans believe their presence in the organization has added nothing. “Been saying this for years, but for as long as Brian Cashman & Aaron Boone are there in that organization, the Yankees will never win a World Series championship. It’s the same s— every year & it’s embarrassing. The organization babies all these grown men & it’s quite evident.”
The frustration is somewhere justified. The Yankees are a team with a championship mindset. Yet, they couldn’t stack a World Series win in 15 years. They just have one AL Pennant in that span of time. Moreover, Cashman has been running the team for all of those 15 years.
When fans start to lose hope, their frustration is accompanied by humor: “The Yankees are about to lose 89-0 to the Dodgers. Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone will hand out stickers and cupcakes while giving each player a personalized kiss on the cheek after the game.” The two consecutive losses to the Dodgers were a heartbreak relief for the Yankees’ nation. And when it comes to Boone and Cashman, it’s not the first time fans are infuriated with Cashman over Boone. When Boone was extended for his managerial duties, it didn’t sit well with the fans. According to them, Cashman has no control over Boone or the players.
While others gave Cashman not-so-kind strategic advice: “Memo to Brian Cashman, get to work, 3rd base starting pitcher, upgrade at SS, all the issues that remain from last year. ‘Good enough to compete’ isn’t a motto.” Well, the Yankees better acquire some remarkable players when the trade deadline hits. They had many injury setbacks throughout this stretch of the season. Being good enough to compete shouldn’t be the motive; the goal should be to stack up the World Series-winning odds.
Then, a blunt accusation was thrown. “If Brian Cashman needed a media fluffer and PR puppet to manage the Yankees, could he at least have picked one that is mediocre at managing a bullpen?” It stems from Boone’s comments about the Yankees on the YES Network. He lacked accountability, as per fans. Be it the offensive approach or bullpen management, the Yankees don’t look the same as they did before facing the Dodgers.
Straight brutal losses, no close calls. The Dodgers were relieved in the mid-game itself in Saturday night’s game. They had the lead so firm, they were certain that they would hand the Yankees another loss. “Brian Cashman needs to make some major moves if the Yankees want even a chance at a title this year. What we just saw the last 2 days was atrocious baseball.” Clearly, Brian Cashman is under fire from the Yankees nation. From aggressive trades to roster decisions, Cashman needs to act fast now.
On the surface, some did remind the Yankees that one or two losses cannot define them. However, that 18-2 defeat cracked that surface wide open. Let’s see what Sunday’s finale matchup holds for the Yankees.
After Aaron Boone’s passive postgame comments on the Yankees’ crushing 18-2 loss to the Dodgers, fans turned their fury toward GM Brian Cashman.
