The move marks a significant development in Argentina’s ongoing scrutiny of digital asset-related activities within its borders.

The now-dissolved Unidad de Tareas de Investigación (UTI), or Investigation Task Force, had been established earlier this year through Decree 114/25 under the Ministry of Justice. Its purpose was to collect data and documentation linked to the crypto asset “$LIBRA”, and to coordinate with both the judiciary and public prosecutors to support a streamlined and rapid investigation process.

According to the newly issued decree, the unit fulfilled its objective by gathering and submitting the necessary information to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. As a result, President Milei authorized the disbandment of the task force, stating that the mission outlined in the original decree had been successfully completed.

The document confirms that the decree was issued under Article 99, section 1 of the National Constitution, granting the executive power to make such administrative decisions. The dissolution also follows consultation with the government’s legal advisory body.

Closing Statement

“The task assigned under Decree No. 114/25 has been fulfilled. Therefore, it is appropriate to dissolve the unit created for that purpose.”

With the investigation task force now disbanded, the spotlight turns to what actions — if any — will follow based on the findings handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. For now, Argentina closes a chapter on one of its most high-profile crypto investigations to date.
