Brazilian Femme Voices Shine Through on Carola’s Latest EP

On Hear Yourself, Brazilian DJ and producer Carola uplifts divas from the country’s thriving underground music scene: Curol and Bruna Strait.

Hailing from Porto Alegre, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, artist Carola has been paving the road towards success. Not only has she released projects via respected labels such as Tomorrowland Music, Monstercat, Insomniac Records, Armada Music, and others, but she has also landed gigs at major festivals like Lollapalooza Brazil and EDC Las Vegas. Now, with her latest EP, Hear Yourself, the DJ and producer showcases what Brazil’s dance music scene has to offer.

This EP found a fitting home on HE.SHE.THEY., a record label focused on inclusivity and radical visibility, and features three fresh tracks from the Brazilian artist that were created last year. “Two of them with women I not only admire deeply, but who are also close friends,” Carola shared. “My connection with those around me is what keeps my creativity alive, and Hear Yourself is the sound of that energy coming full circle.”

Staying connected to her roots and authenticity is key for Carola. With that, she invites Brazil’s noteworthy afro house DJ and producer Curol to kick off the project with a title track. The two artists blend their distinctive sounds to create an elevating four-on-the-floor beat with a classic uplifting vocal, a familiar element to house music tracks. Coming in at second is “Beautiful Time,” with Rio artist Burna Strait and saxophone notes that give the song an uplifting, jazzy tone, supported by yet another classic vocal.

‘Hear Yourself’ and ‘Beautiful Time’ were born during a time when I felt creatively lost. Collaborating with these two amazing women helped me reconnect with my passion for music and art. Having them as part of this project means the world to me.

Wrapping up the EP is Carola’s solo track “Closer,” featuring a grittier bassline and inviting lyrics that pull in listeners by saying, “In this house, everybody’s equal.” With two features from rising stars in her hometown, Hear Yourself encompasses the drive and soul of house music. It’s community-driven, vocal-heavy, and groovy.
