With Stephen Curry sidelined due to a hamstring injury, the Warriors needed the remaining players to bring their A game for tonight’s Wolves clash. A win at home is crucial for Steve Kerr’s squad because it could extend the series to Game 6, the expected timeline for Steph’s return. However, the Bay Area team’s first half performance raised major concerns about the team’s ability to stay afloat without their biggest superstar.
Well, the Warriors finished the opening half leading by two points. Although it might seem great, the score does not show the complete picture. That’s because Jimmy Butler carried majority of the scoring load, finishing the half with 18 points. But his supporting cast did not have much impact. Dealing with shooting struggles, Brandin Podziemski had just 2 points and shot 0 of 6 from the field. His frustration was evident as he missed floater after floater.
Even Buddy Hield, who was coming off three solid performances, couldn’t find the back of the net. He went scoreless in the first half, missing all three of his shot attempts. Unfortunately, Moses Moody and Quinten Post did not do any better either, as both players could not contribute a single point to the Warriors’ score. With these four key players struggling, the Bay Area team is not left with many scoring options, which could prove disastrous in the second half.
Brandin Podziemski can’t buy a basket. He’s 0-for-6. Buddy Hield is 0-for-3. Where will Golden State’s 3’s come from in the second half? Moses Moody has struggled and played just 3 minutes. Quinten Post also struggling and seeing just 2 minutes in first half.
