As the Toronto Blue Jays made a pair of roster moves ahead of Wednesday’s series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Outfielder Will Robertson was added to the major league roster and will be active for Wednesday’s contest. When Robertson appears in a game, it will be his MLB debut.

The 27-year-old has spent most of the season in triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons, posting a .991 OPS in that time. Robertson is hitting .288 with a .410 on-base percentage and 12 home runs through 51 games with the Bisons.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider had high praise for the former fourth-round pick when asked about him on Monday.

“Things happen at different times in guys’ careers,” Schneider said. “I think that he’s figured out some ways to help him move a little bit more efficiently … he’s been impressive (in the minors), and impressive when he comes over to (big-league) spring training games. Whenever you’re doing what he’s doing, it’s not going unnoticed here.”

Meanwhile, outfielder Nathan Lukes has been placed on the seven-day injured list, retroactive to June 10, with a concussion.

The move to the IL comes after Lukes was already scratched from Toronto’s lineup on Tuesday due to neck discomfort.

Lukes is hitting .267 through 49 games this season with a .360 on-base percentage and .751 OPS to go with 21 RBIs and four home runs.

He last played in the Blue Jays’ 5-4 win over the Cardinals on Monday, going hitless in his two plate appearances, one of which ended in a walk.

Toronto enters Wednesday’s contest as winners of 12 of its last 15 and amid a two-game win streak. The Blue Jays are now four games back of the New York Yankees for top spot in the AL East with a 37-30 record.

First pitch between the visiting Blue Jays and 36-31 Cardinals takes place at 2:15 p.m. ET / 11:15 p.m. PT on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+.
