Toronto Blue Jays rehabbing slugger Anthony Santander wrapped up the triple-A season in Buffalo with a quiet day at the plate on Sunday.

The switch-hitter hit second while serving as the designated hitter during the Bisons’ 2-1 loss to the New York Yankees’ top affiliate in their final regular-season game.

After a pair of groundouts, he finished 0-for-2 with two walks, taking all four plate appearances from the left side.

He concluded a nine-game rehab stint, going 7-for-32 with two doubles and two homers.

The 30-year-old took reps in left field during two games earlier in the week, but has made most of his appearances as the DH. He was given a day off Friday after suiting up for seven contests in eight days.

The Blue Jays can clinch a post-season ticket on Sunday with a win over the Kansas City Royals or losses from all three of the Detroit Tigers (vs. Atlanta Braves), Boston Red Sox (vs. Tampa Bay Rays), and the Cleveland Guardians (at Minnesota Twins).

Santander could factor into the potential playoff roster if he continues to trend in the right direction.

Toronto’s major off-season addition has been out of the MLB lineup with a shoulder injury since May 29.

Before hitting the injured list, he was slashing .179/.273/.304 with six homers in 50 games for the Blue Jays. He had mostly served as Toronto’s designated hitter, but also spent time defensively in left and right field and at first base.

Buffalo has now wrapped up its regular-season schedule and Santander potentially could join the team in Toronto as they begin a three-game set with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.

The Bisons (61-85) missed the triple-A International League playoffs but will keep a stay-ready squad active as the major-league team continues down the stretch and potentially into a post-season run of their own.
