The Toronto Blue Jays will be without one of the best hitters in baseball for their series finale against the New York Yankees.

A day after injuring his shin after a collision at home plate, Bo Bichette will get some extra healing time and won’t be in the starting lineup on Sunday.

The Blue Jays shortstop, who leads the Majors in hits with 181, limped off the field in the sixth inning of Saturday’s game after colliding with Yankees catcher Austin Wells.

Bichette underwent X-rays that came back negative before returning to the game with a cut-up shin.

The 27-year-old is currently batting .311 with a .838 OPS, 18 home runs and a team-high 93 RBIs.

Ernie Clement gets the start at shortstop in Bichette’s absence, batting fifth. Coverage begins at 1:00 p.m. ET/ 10 a.m. PT on Sportsnet.
