Netflix is set to debut the complete television expansion of Blindspotting on October 20, 2026. This move brings all 16 episodes of the critically acclaimed drama to the streaming platform’s US library, offering a new window of availability for a series that maintained a rare 100% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes across both of its seasons.
The series arrives on Netflix following creator and producer Daveed Diggs’ high-profile role in the fifth and final season of The Boys. Diggs portrayed “Oh Father” (Aaron), a corrupt supe preacher, in the final chapters of the superhero franchise. His recent visibility in one of streaming’s largest hits has renewed interest in his earlier projects and creative catalog.
The series is known for blending traditional drama with spoken-word and dance.
Storytelling and Stylistic Roots
Originally a Starz original, Blindspotting was cancelled in September 2023 after two seasons. The show serves as a direct spin-off and sequel to the 2018 film of the same name, which Diggs and Rafael Casal co-wrote and starred in. While the original film followed the character Collin through his final days of probation in Oakland, the television series shifts the perspective to the internal and external fallout following a sudden incarceration within that same community.
The production earned its perfect critical score by blending traditional prestige drama with unconventional storytelling methods.
The “Netflix Effect” for Starz Originals
The migration of Blindspotting follows a growing industry trend where Starz original programming finds a second life through licensing deals with Netflix.
While the October 20 release includes both existing seasons, there has been no confirmation regarding a potential third season or a revival of the series under the Netflix banner. For now, the acquisition functions as a recovery of a “hidden gem,” allowing fans of Diggs’ work in The Boys and the 2018 Blindspotting film to access the complete narrative arc.
