The message, sent during a behind-the-scenes dispute over the film adaptation of It Ends With Us, has yet again resurfaced. This follows a major update in their court case.

On June 2, a federal judge ruled that Lively’s emotional distress claims would not proceed after her legal team opted to drop them. The court also denied Baldoni’s request to obtain her private medical and therapy records, since those claims were no longer part of the case. 

Meanwhile, on June 5, Lively publicly criticized Baldoni for distancing himself from the feminist ideals he once promoted. Lively’s spokesperson told Us Weekly, “19 leading survivors and organizations devoted to women’s rights, children’s rights and domestic violence have now signed onto four separate amicus briefs. All are united in opposing Justin Baldoni’s attempt to dismantle a law designed to protect women who speak up — simply to protect himself.” 

The tension first started during production on It Ends With Us, where Lively was cast as the lead. Later, she reportedly became heavily involved in shaping the script. According to Baldoni’s legal complaint, she pushed for significant rewrites and tried to take creative control. While Baldoni acknowledged her enthusiasm, he chose to incorporate only parts of her suggestions. That decision reportedly upset Lively. She later brought up her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and friend Taylor Swift in a conversation.

The situation took a dramatic turn with a final message, now known as the “Khaleesi text.” Drawing a parallel to Game of Thrones, Lively wrote, “If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons.” “For better or worse, but usually for better.
