Blade Runner Is Abandoning Its Original Premise (& That's A Good Thing)

On November 25, five years after it was officially announced, Blade Runner 2099 will finally premiere on Prime Video. We kinda, sorta already got a Blade Runner TV show last year with Alien: Earth on Hulu. With its look at a dystopian future world governed by technocratic trillionaires and malignant megacorporations, Alien: Earth often felt more like Blade Runner than Alien — and Alien technically takes place in the Blade Runner universe, thanks to a few choice Easter eggs included by Sir Ridley Scott.
