The Chicago Blackhawks could be without their star player for the foreseeable future.

There is concern on Connor Bedard‘s status following an injury that he sustained in Friday’s game against the St. Louis Blues, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on Saturday Headlines.

Bedard was ruled out of Chicago’s game on Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings after he was injured right before the end of regulation in the Blackhawks’ 3-2 loss.

With less than one second left, Bedard was knocked down by Brayden Schenn while taking a faceoff, grabbing his right shoulder. He immediately went to the locker room, accompanied by a trainer.

Head coach Jeff Blashill says that Bedard was injured before the push occurred.

“The Blackhawks are still collecting information on this, nothing official in terms of clarity right now,” Friedman said.

Friedman reported that the former first-overall pick likely had an MRI Saturday, but the team is still determining a plan.

He is not expected to travel with the team for the start of a three-game road trip against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators.

Bedard currently ranks fourth in the NHL in points with 12 goals and 25 assists for 37 points.
