Frankie in the Big Brother houseBig Brother contestant Frankie Taber has shared that he is bisexual.
Towards the beginning of Tuesday night’s highlights show, Frankie confided in some of his fellow housemates that he was feeling under some emotional stress.
“I ain’t slept one bit,” he admitted, on his first morning in the house. “I feel like I went from a really big high to a really big low last night. Quick and all, the turnaround was weird. I went from high to straight low…”
He then shared that he’d decided to come on Big Brother “for various reasons”.
“I know why, I need to get that sorted,” he continued, claiming that “once that’s sorted”, he’d feel better.
Becoming emotional, Frankie claimed: “I knew it was gonna hit me but I didn’t think it’d hit me early. It’s hit me straight away.”
Frankie became tearful as he opened up to fellow housemate Pauline about his reasons for entering the Big Brother house“It has to be done, I have to face myself. I can’t run forever, do you know what I mean?” he added.
Later in the episode, in the Diary Room, Frankie chose to open up about his sexuality.
The 23-year-old explained to producers: “I came on the show to come out, because I’m bisexual. I’ve been in pain for so long – probably a year and a half or two years – just from the guilt and shame that I’m carrying from it.”
Through tears, he voiced his concerns that he’d “let down a lot of people”, to which he was assured that he’d not “let anyone down”.
He’s already received a wave of support on social media, including from The Traitors star Freddie Fraser, who himself came out publicly as bisexual just weeks ago.
“Big up you Frankie boy,” Freddie wrote, while radio DJ and I’m A Celebrity star Dean McCullough wrote: “Good on him, huge respect.”
Kate Lawler, the former Big Brother winner and host of new companion show The Group Chat, added: “I feel for Frankie. That Diary Room chat was someone lifting a huge weight off their shoulders.
“I hope whoever he feels he’s let down is going to give him a hug when they see him next.”
Frankie is one of 16 new housemates who entered the Big Brother compound during Sunday night’s live launch show.
Shortly after they became acquainted with one another, bosses announced the first twist of the season, revealing that one contestant is not a housemate at all, but rather a “mole” hand-picked by Big Brother to ruffle feathers and stir up “chaos”.
This mole is, among other things, responsible for choosing which members of the group face the public vote ahead of the first eviction of the series on Friday.
Big Brother airs nightly on ITV2 and ITVX.
