Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has found yet another reason to celebrate this Onam. The Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju-starrer has officially entered the Rs 100 crore club, delivering a remarkable box-office run just days after arriving in theatres on August 21. With packed shows being reported across several centres, the Girish AD directorial has quickly established itself as one of the season's biggest Malayalam hits.
The milestone is particularly significant for Nivin Pauly, who now has two Rs 100 crore grossers within the space of a year. His previous release, Sarvam Maya, crossed the same mark earlier this year, marking a major turnaround in the actor's commercial fortunes. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has now followed that success at an even faster pace, further strengthening Pauly's position at the box office.
The film's success also adds another major achievement to Girish AD's growing filmography. Following the enormous response to Premalu, expectations were naturally high for his next outing. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit appears to have delivered on those expectations by combining romance, humour and an ensemble-driven family story with the director's trademark warmth.
A strong Onam run
One of the biggest factors behind Bethlehem Kudumba Unit's box-office momentum has been its reception among family audiences. Positive word-of-mouth has helped the film maintain strong occupancy even after its opening stretch, with additional shows being added in Kerala and Tamil Nadu to meet demand.
The film also reportedly ranks among the fastest Malayalam films to reach the Rs 100 crore milestone, placing it alongside some of the industry's biggest recent blockbusters. For Bhavana Studios, the achievement marks another impressive chapter after the phenomenal success of Premalu. Producers Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil and Syam Pushkaran have once again found a strong audience response with a story rooted in everyday relationships and familiar social spaces.

At the centre of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is Ashley, played by Mamitha Baiju, whose life takes an unexpected romantic turn when she falls for her older neighbour Justin, portrayed by Nivin Pauly. Justin is a charismatic middle-aged man who is around 12 to 13years older than Ashley. Their relationship unfolds within a close-knit neighbourhood surrounded by a large family, allowing the film to explore romance alongside the humour and chaos of domestic life.
What comes next for the film
The film has been written by Girish AD and Kiran Josey, who previously collaborated on Premalu. Its ensemble cast includes Suresh Krishna, Bindu Panicker, Vinay Forrt, Roshan Shanavas, Shyam Mohan, Shameer Khan, Srinda, Parvathy Ayyappadas and Meenakshi Raveendran, among others.
With the Malayalam version continuing its theatrical run, the makers are also looking beyond Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit are scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 4, potentially giving the film's box-office journey another boost.
For now, however, the Rs 100 crore milestone is a fitting Onam gift for everyone associated with the film. With audiences continuing to turn up in large numbers and the festive period still offering plenty of theatrical momentum, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit looks set to extend its successful run further.
