**American Hard Dance producer bert showcases North America’s heaviest kick rolls on his Paradigm Shift debut.**

The American Hard Dance scene is flourishing and growing, with massive events drawing larger crowds than ever. Just look at the biggest Wasteland Festival ever, which happened in September, or Holy Priest selling out Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco for the first-ever hard dance event at the venue.

But it’s not just the audience that’s growing for hard dance. The American scene is building a plethora of artists that can easily compete with anyone from the European scene. One of these emerging artists is an uptempo producer that goes by the name of bert.

bert prides himself on creating the heaviest kick rolls in North America, and he makes a strong case. His project began after he was first exposed to harder styles in 2020. At this point, bert had already been a music producer for six years, although his niche was in phonk and trap music. Unfortunately, he felt a lack of direction in his music and style, which led him to take a hiatus for nearly ten months.

On one fateful day in June 2020, bert stumbled upon a YouTube video for “Ode To The Godfather” by Partyraiser & Repix, shared on the channel Frenchcore Hardcore. “I was immediately hooked! The intricate sound design, the sampling, the speed — I just couldn’t wrap my head around it,” he told EDM Identity.

Needless to say, the track sent him down a rabbit hole, igniting his fiery passion for the harder styles. “I researched so many artists, so many subgenres of hard dance, just wanting to make something new and exciting for myself,” he shared. “Something that I could release without a care in the world about how others viewed my music.”

Reflecting on those early days, bert even shared that neither his project nor himself would be here today without that video. In a full-circle moment, he also celebrated the third anniversary of uploading one of his tracks to the same channel!

Fast forward to today, and bert has carved out a unique space for himself where his music says what words can’t explain. He said, “There’s no real way to describe the energy that I put out, but I can say for certain that I’ve never seen someone disappointed!”

That energy carries over into his live performances. “I’m just a goofy guy with a love for harder styles,” bert explained. “I try to hit as many bases as I can when I DJ and make my music, and every time, I have put in no less than 110%!”

Of course, music selection is important in his DJ sets, but bert also believes that the way he carries himself on stage is just as important. In other words, bert said, “Expect the unexpected when my USB gets plugged in.”

bert’s crazy kick drums caught our attention, and we knew that we had to bring him on to showcase his heavy-hitting style to the world. Luckily, he stopped by to spin a banging mix for our hard dance mix series, Paradigm Shift! For one hour, bert delivers high-impact bangers, ridiculous and obnoxious kicks, and unexpected elements.

My overall vision for the North American scene is to see more people stepping out of their comfort zones and exploring the huge variety that hard dance has to offer! I’d love to see states around the nation that aren’t major metropolitan areas build dedicated scenes where hard dance thrives and takes that favored role instead of being the underdog.
