Bernhard Langer WITB for 2024 Charles Schwab Cup Championship: The 67YO Veteran’s Gears Explored

2 weeks ago 7

Bernhard Langer has one of the most decorated careers in golfing history as a senior. He has forty-six wins, just one more than Hale Irwin (45) for the most in PGA Tour Champions history. His last win came in July 2023, at the US Senior Open. But well, as it turns out, there is a high chance that the 67-year-old might be very close to his forty-seventh victory.

The German player is currently teeing off at the Phoenix Country Club in Arizona. After fifty-four holes, he entered the final round of the 2024 Charles Schwab Cup with the solo lead. With five birdies and a bogey on the fourth hole in the third round, Langer has a one-stroke lead ahead of Steven Alker. And if he continues this momentum, he might clinch the trophy in a few hours. But what is in his bag helping him ace the game?

According to GolfWRX, Bernhard Langer has a rather versatile bag, consisting of clubs from different brands. For the driver, he opts for the PING G400 (9 degrees), equipping it with the Graphite Design Tour AD IZ. He has a driving accuracy percentage of 80.40%, which makes him rank second on the list. This is because of the big advancement in aerodynamics and stability these drivers offer. According to the official website, these drivers were first introduced in 2017, and are no longer available.

He uses the TaylorMade Qi10 Tour (15 degrees) for his 3-woods. These have a lower profile moveable weight system, giving the players the option of versatile flight options, making the game easier. These are priced at $449.99 but can get them for nearly $399.99 on the website because of the sale. Langer uses them with the Graphite Design Tour AD DI 7 S. Langer also has the TaylorMade Stealth 2 (15 degrees) for the 3-woods. He equips them with the Graphite Design Tour AD DI 7 S shaft.

The 67-year-old professional mixes up his game with the Adams Idea Pro (18 degrees) and the Adams Idea Pro (22 degrees) available between $513.99 and $799.99 for the hybrid. Langer uses the Midas shaft for both of them. He has three types of irons for his game. The Tour Edge Exotics CBX (4-6), Tour Edge Exotics Pro 723 (7-9), and Tour Edge BL Proto (PW), all belonging to the same series, just upgraded. Langer uses them with the True Temper Dynamic Gold Mid 115 (4-PW).

Now, what does he use when reaches the green and needs to be much more precise?

Bernhard Langer’s companions for the greens

Bernhard Langer likes to keep his options, and even for the wedges, he has two of them. First is the Cleveland 588 RTX (56) available for $199.99. For the second one, he has the Titleist Vokey Design Prototype (60), a limited release launched in 2013. He uses both with the True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shaft.

The PGA Tour Pro also ranks second when it comes to the overall putting average (1.353). He has been able to achieve this great feat with his Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball Long. These give a swift swing to the ball when it is stuck in the lip of the hole. They are priced at $199.99. He completes his kit with the Golf Pride V55 grip and the Titleist Pro V1x ball.

Do you think his kit will finally help him bag his forty-seventh win this weekend? Stay tuned to find out.
