Benedict Cumberbatchhas become one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation, but his career didn’t truly kick into high gear until he landed the role of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective in the BBC's Sherlock. Although there have been countless films and television shows that took inspiration from Doyle’s stories, Sherlock offered a fresh, modern perspective, which was made even better thanks to the incredible chemistry between Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Although it ran for four seasons (as well as a Christmas special), there has been no indication that Sherlock will return for a fifth season.
