Ben Shelton Beams With Pride After Girlfriend Trinity Rodman Shines Bright for American Soccer Team

It was only last month that Ben Shelton and the NWSL star Trinity Rodman “hard-launched” their relationship with TikTok clues. On March 6, Shelton posted a TikTok video with Jorijana and GloRilla’s ‘ILBB2’ playing in the background, asking, “T**** wsp with u.” Rodman, in response to that, came with her own TikTok using the same song with the caption, “___wassup w you.” They also commented on each other’s videos, raising speculations of their relationship even further. They finally made it official on March 17 when Shelton posted a mirror selfie on Instagram with the USWNT forward planting a kiss on his cheeks. Three weeks down the road, Shelton has now highlighted Rodman’s iconic moment in the Stars and Stripes outfit.

Ever since Shelton posted that mirror selfie, the couple has been showering love on each other publicly on social media. What was Rodman’s reaction to Shelton announcing their relationship? “Me seeing the Ben Shelton hard launch…then realizing I’m the girl,” she joked. Shortly after that, she shared a selfie captioning, “Dibs ,” and to that, Shelton commented, “Whoever that is he won fs [for sure].”

Talking about winning, well, Trinity Rodman recently made a stunning comeback with the USWNT! She scored an early goal (in the 5th minute) in Team USA’s friendly rematch of the Paris Olympics gold-medal match against Brazil. 

Rodman hadn’t played for the USWNT since their gold medal triumph over Brazil in August last year due to a lingering back injury. After playing a big role in their 2-0 victory over Brazil, she said, “That was the perfect ball to the perfect finish, so I’m really happy about it.” And guess what? Shelton later shared her iconic moment on his IG stories with a cheeky caption, “.”

Apart from representing USWNT, Shelton also plays for the Washington Spirit in the NWSL. She is the daughter of the renowned NBA player, Dennis Rodman. Trinity was introduced to soccer at the age of 4 and was encouraged by her mother and half-sister to pursue her dream of becoming a pro soccer player. 

Rodman later became the youngest player at the age of 18 to be drafted in the NWSL history. She was also named the Rookie of the Year at the end of the 2021 season.

The 22-year-old once admitted that the constant public focus on her father added a bit of an extra burden to her shoulders. “Everything has always revolved around him,” she said. However, with time, just like Ben Shelton, her individual brilliance gave her the recognition that she was looking for at the early stages of her career.

Even Shelton’s father, Bryan Shelton, is an American former college tennis coach and former tennis pro. Ben, at times, confessed how “tough” it was for him being the coach’s son, as he had to work harder and travel that extra mile because his father didn’t want to show “favoritism.” So, Shelton and Rodman’s journey has been a bit similar.

Both of them have, however, learned how to handle the pressure now. By Trinity’s own admission, the relationship with Ben isn’t bringing any extra pressure to her. During an interview with ESPN, she said, “I mean, I am just another person in a relationship that people know about it, so yeah, I’m obviously very happy, and hopefully some of the world is happy, but, yeah, I think you know, it’s in the public eye, and I can’t really do much about it.“
