Is there anyone here whose heart does not ache for Emmerdale’s poor Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle)?
Alright so he’s not winning any best or most honest husband awards himself, but Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) has properly shafted him over ending their marriage due to a secret affair with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
Billy was crushed when she called their relationship a day, and the heartbroken dad began theorising that she must be cheating to want to end things so abruptly.
While of course he’s right, he’s thrown off the scent and is left with the thought that his wife just no longer loves him, which is almost more painful for him to accept.

Then came the conversation with the children – having to tell them that their parents are headed for divorce.
This was a particular blow for innocent Billy, who accidentally aired his theory of Dawn cheating in front of Clemmie, who then wanted nothing to do with him. Somehow he became the bad guy.
Now they are navigating a whole new scenario, co-parenting their three children, with Joe waiting in the wings.

But with everything so messy, it’s hard for them to focus on what’s important – the children. And while in Billy’s care, Evan is suddenly rushed to hospital.
It might not be over just yet…
Billy is overcome with guilt that it’s all his fault, but soon-to-be-ex-wife Dawn supportively tries to convince him it’s not his fault at all.
He’s warmed by her approach. Are things as dead for them as they seem?
Could their sick son bring them back together?
