Avatar: Fire and Ash Trailer Shows New Footage of Villains in James Cameron Movie

A new trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash has been released.

Avatar: Fire and Ash will be the third film in James Cameron’s Avatar franchise. Releasing in United States theaters this coming December, the new sequel will see Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña once again reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri.

What happens in the new Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer?

The new Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer follows Jake and his family, who are still grieving with Neteyam’s death, as they meet a new Na’vi tribe called the Ash People. Led by tribe leader Varang, the Ash People have allied themselves with the villainous Colonel Miles Quaritch, played by Stephen Lang, meaning that Jake and his clan are about to face their biggest threat yet.

“With Avatar: Fire and Ash, James Cameron takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family,” the synopsis for the movie reads.

The screenplay comes from Cameron, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver, based on a story by Cameron, Jaffa, Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno.

The cast of the movie further includes Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Oona Chaplin as Varang, Cliff Curtis as Tonowari, Britain Dalton as Lo’ak, Trinity Bliss as Tuktirey, Jack Champion as Miles “Spider” Socorro, Bailey Bass as Tsireya, and Kate Winslet as Ronal. 

Cameron previously said of the movie, via Variety, “You’ll see a lot more Pandora that you never saw before. It’s an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it’s also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before. We’re going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love.”

Avatar: Fire and Ash, also known as Avatar 3, arrives on December 19, 2025, from 20th Century Studios.
