Audiences Duel With Critics Over 'Karate Kid: Legends' on Rotten Tomatoes and CinemaScore

It isn't unusual for audiences and critics to be out-of-sync. Just some months ago, the Amazon MGM movie Red One — that's the Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans holiday adventure – scored a terrible 30% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, but an exceptional 90% audience score on the same platform. Something similar is unfolding this week, with Sony's Karate Kid: Legends having opened to mediocre reviews but a warm embrace from the crowds that checked it out on its first day of release. The movie is a soft-reboot of the long-running franchise; it brings back characters from not only the original series, but also the television spin-off and the last reboot.
