Golden Globe nominee Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus) and Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise) have officially signed on to star in the upcoming magical realist movie titled, The Accompanist. They will also be joined by Everly Carganilla (Spy Kids: Armageddon), who has been tapped to play one of the leading roles.
The project hails from The Office and Silicon Valley vet Zach Woods, who direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with long-time collaborator Brandon Gardner. This serves as Woods’ feature-length directorial debut, after previously directing short films such as 2020’s David and 2021’s Bud. The former received a nomination for the Short Film Palme d’Or at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival.
“Life can feel so lonely sometimes. I think it’s worth telling stories about how scary, funny, and glorious it is when we’re brave enough to try to find our way to each other in the dark,” Woods said in statement.
