Ashton Jeanty Second-Guesses Brock Bowers’ Intentions After Raiders Star’s Viral Remarks

Spencer Danielson had once said, “He’s a guy that you want kids who watch the NFL to look up to, to emulate who they are. You want them to be like Ashton Jeanty because he’s an elite human being. He’s a 10 out of 10 young man, and our game needs more people like Ashton.” Ashton Jeanty is a standout, not just at Boise State, but in every single room he walks into. The dude even took out his OLs for dinner when college season ended. And his charisma and explosive talent aren’t going unnoticed by his new NFL franchise, either.

You can understand why Ashton Jeanty was the undeniable first-round sixth overall pick this year. Just in his final season, the guy clocked a major 2601 rushing yards and a sweet 29 TDs. No wonder he is being compared to NFL legends already. You can imagine the kind of arsenal HC Pete Carroll has added for Geno Smith. Even his teammate, Raiders TE Brock Bowers, was in awe of Jeanty when he said, “He’s a beast, he’s quick, he’s fast, he’s rocked up, he’s thick.” While Bowers talked about Jeanty’s impressive build and explosive athleticism, the choice of words drew a lot of side glances from the fans. And now, even Jeanty has addressed them.

In conversation with Jarrett Bailey, Ashton Jeanty spoke about Bowers’ comments. It got a hearty laugh from Jeanty. He even poked Bailey with, “You emphasized the ‘rocked up’” and the laughs continued. Jeanty further added, “The wordplay might bring question marks to people…” But while Bowers’ choice of words was a little questionable, Jeanty understood the sentiment behind it. He even showed his respect to Bowers and appreciated the shoutout. “I know what he meant – so I don’t got a problem with it – he sees a great athlete in me and I appreciate it. It means a lot coming from him. He had a historic rookie season. I’m excited to be teaming up with him.” The respect for each other is clearly shown. Together, Bowers and Jeanty can easily take the Raiders’ plays to greater heights than ever. And Jeanty will do it in his classic explosive style.

This is the guy who Danielson once called “an elite human being.” And he stands out both on and off the field. Even before the drafts, he actually wrote an open letter to the franchise GMs. “Me — in my mind? I’m still in the backyard with my friends, playing ‘no one can touch me.’ – If you pick me, it’s simple: I’m coming to your franchise to do what Saquon and the Eagles just did. I’m coming to win, big, soon. It’s TACKLE football … you know what I’m saying? I’d draft the guy they can’t tackle.” No wonder he caught Pete Carroll’s eye. The 211-pound tank adds major strength to the Raiders’ roster, and Carroll has decided on a big role for him.

Ashton Jeanty has been drawing a lot of comparisons to the Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch. The legend himself has been very outspoken in Jeanty’s praise in his podcasts. And it’s not just the fans and Lynch who see the parallels. Pete Carroll sees it too. After Jeanty was drafted, Carroll had notably said, “There are similarities in his (Jeanty’s) ability to make plays when it doesn’t look like there’s anything there. Marshawn did that throughout his career, and he found a physical way to bank off of people and bounce and just keep it alive, and Ashton is a player that shows that kind of style… there’s a special makeup in there and in Ashton in particular.” So, the hopes are clearly high. And that’s not nearly all.

As far as Ashton Jeanty is concerned, Pete Carroll isn’t holding anything back. Jeanty is here to bring the Raiders closer to victory, and Jeanty’s going all out too. In a presser back on 21st May, Pete Carroll’s praise for Jeanty wasn’t just fluff. It showed how hard-working the guy really is. “He’s doing great. He Really is. He’s right on point with everything that we’re doing. He’s studying really hard. He’s been really diligent about all aspects. There’s nothing that he doesn’t find important. He’s going to work hard on his pass protection, the third down type of work, see if he can contribute in that kind of a role as well. – So, we’re not holding anything back on him. He’s getting a lot of plays.”

So while Ashton Jeanty polishes his RB skills to the NFL level, he’s also working on his pass protection. And with the drive the guy has to learn and improve, it won’t be a surprise if he gets it down perfectly before the preseason rolls around. As Pete Carroll continues to polish this talent, just how brightly will he shine when the Raiders hit the gridiron?
