Ashibah and Grigoré will take the stage together in San Diego next month at Cross Pollination, and they’ve curated their favorite tunes for a glimpse of the soundscapes to come.

Collaboration runs deep at This Never Happened. The Lane 8-led imprint has put this mentality at the forefront over the years, bringing artists from the progressive and melodic house scenes together to create true magic. This has been prominently featured on the label’s releases, but it’s also dripped into their curated shows across the country. The latest event, FNGRS CRSSD x CROSS POLLINATION, is putting that ethos on full display.

This Never Happened teamed up with San Diego powerhouse brand FNGRS CRSSD to bring this event to life at Waterfront Park, yet the collaborative spirit runs deeper in its lineup. On August 9, multiple members of the TNH family will take the stage together for back-to-back sets that are sure to leave crowds impressed. One that many have been looking forward to is Ashibah b2b Grigoré, two of the label’s most beloved artists who have brought delectable soundscapes to the scene over the years.

Ashibah and Grigoré are no strangers to each other, having taken the stage together at past shows to delight crowds, and both artists are very excited for what’s to come in San Diego.

“Playing B2B with Ashibah is always a highlight for me,” said Grigoré. “We’ve played together a few times now, and it’s never felt like something that needed a lot of planning; it’s always been spontaneous, effortless, and just a lot of fun. And I have to say, every time Sarah starts singing during our set, I still get goosebumps. It’s always a pleasure to share the booth with such a talented DJ, musician, and vocalist.”

I’m really excited for this B2B with Grigore. I love sets where there’s a real conversation happening between two artists. Where you don’t know exactly where the journey will go, but you trust each other enough to explore. I think our sounds have a beautiful connection: emotional, melodic, and driven by storytelling. Grigoré continued, saying he’s sure this back-to-back set will be another unforgettable one. “As always, our set will be full of new music, unreleased ideas, and a few surprises,” he said. “We really enjoy feeding off each other’s energy, so every set ends up taking its own unique direction. That’s what makes these B2Bs so special to me.”

Both artists have been on distinct creative paths lately, making their upcoming performance even more enticing for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Ashibah recently released her debut album, HUMAN, which she said took seven years to create. “It’s my most personal work to date, blending electronic music with songwriting, live instrumentation, and influences from my Danish and Egyptian roots,” she shared. “The album explores identity, love, grief, growth, and connection, and I’m incredibly excited to finally be sharing it with the world.”

Meanwhile, Grigoré has been in a transitional phase in his career, dabbling in new sonic realms with releases on other labels like Defected and Diynamic. “I’ve really been enjoying experimenting, searching for a new sound, and rethinking some of the things I’ve done in the past,” he said. “I feel like it’s all coming together into something really exciting, and I’m looking forward to sharing the new music I’ve been working on very soon.”

Together, the two will create some dancefloor magic when they take the stage at Cross Pollination.
