Arrest made after Eva’s attack in Coronation Street and a family is shattered

Who on Coronation Street would want to hurt Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley)? Was it malicious, was she in the wrong place at the wrong time? Or did she simply pull a bad pint?

The pink loving princess of the Rovers’ Return seems like the very last person who would be left for dead on the Cobbles.

However, that’s exactly what happens when the diva landlady finds herself the victim of a vicious attack in her own pub.

After Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) call drop by the pub to vainly search for Sam’s missing phone, Eva’s feeling dreadful and shuts up shop for the night to look after herself.

But when she hears a noise, she goes downstairs to investigate.

It doesn’t end well.

She’s knocked unconscious and discovered by none other than Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) and Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard).

That’s where this story gets interesting.

Given Carl’s record for mischief, it doesn’t take a genius to suspect his involvement.

After all, the Worst Webster not only had an affair with his uncle Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) wife,  but he was prepared to let his own mother go to prison for his crime – causing the Corriedale crash that Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) died in.

He also tampered with Kevin’s car and pointed a gun at him, so hurting Eva is not out of the realms of possibility. The question is why?

That’s certainly the conundrum facing Eva and her concerned partner Ben next week, when he sits at her bedside.

Meanwhile, cobbles Copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is questioningDebbie and Carl about Eva’s injuries. Carl describes how he helped Eva to clear up because she wasn’t feeling well and then returned home. Will Carl’s story stack up with the evidence?

Apparently not, as the police take Carl in for questioning over the attack on Eva. Carl protests his innocence… as to be fair he always does.

But is this a case of the Webster who cried Wolf? Did Carl really attack Eva?

One thing is for sure. When the truth eventually comes to light and Eva’s attacker is revealed, one Weatherfield family will be left completely shattered by the revelation, as they struggle to come to terms with the fact their actions have changed everything…
