Disney Legend and Actual National Treasure™ Anika Noni Rose has come out to publicly express her lamentation in no uncertain terms over the cancellation of the planned Disney+ show starring the titular princess, who she's provided the voice for since the movie's release in 2009. In development since 2020, the show was suddenly and unceremoniously axed last week in yet another bonehead move by the soulless C-suite ghouls currently running the company into the ground. But hey, they offered up the vague promise of some kind of PatF short that is to also likely to get cancelled be released...at some indeterminate future date that has yet to be announced. I'll believe it when I see it.
Quoth Rose:
“I too am deeply disappointed that the continuation of Tiana’s journey in series form has been cut short," she announced via her Instagram. "As hurtful as it is for anything you’ve put your heart and soul in to be prematurely ended, my hope is that when what is now to be a ‘Tiana Special Event’ airs, that all of you beautiful, loving, loyal fans who’ve been championing not just the series, but a ‘Princess and the Frog’ sequel, tune in,” she continued. Also it probably won't do any good, but I nevertheless encourage everyone to write the Mouse expressing their disappointment and if you even still have one, threaten to or even outright actually cancel your D+ subscription in protest. Don't reward this stupid late stage capitalist bullshit with your wallet. And if you need some uh...seaworthy ways to still be able watch your favorite Disney-owned shows and movies, pm me.
