Angel Batista’s Fate in Dexter: Resurrection Episode 9 Explained

Dexter: Resurrection Episode 9 had a lot of surprises packed into it, including one major development that few would have expected. Amidst the events of the episode, here is what happened to the iconic Angel Batista, one of Dexter’s lifelong adversaries.

Does Angel Batista live or die in Dexter: Resurrection Episode 9?

Angel Batista has a fascinating arc in Dexter: Resurrection and takes some exceptional strides in the ninth episode. But unfortunately, the character does not make it out of the episode alive.

In this episode, Batista uncovers the truth about Dexter after investigating Prater and spotting him with the former. As he understands who Dexter is, he goes to warn Prater about the danger. But this goes sideways for Batista, who is attacked and eventually captured by Prater’s men. When Dexter finally arrives at the location for his scheduled meeting with Prater, he finds Angel strapped to a kill table inside Prater’s lair.

Prater makes an offer to Dexter. He says he can supply serial killers to Dexter, but Dexter must kill Batista in exchange. Dexter, refusing to break his code and hoping that Batista would be of aid to him in this sticky situation, slashes through the bonds of Batista. However, ironically, Batista attacks Dexter the moment he is free.

As Batista continues to choke Dexter, Prater fires several shots at Batista, mortally injuring him. Prater runs away with Charley after shooting Batista, who ends up on the floor, bleeding out.

Dexter tries to tell him that James Doakes or Maria LaGuerta didn’t die at his hands, but Batista blames him and uses his final breath to say, “Dexter Morgan, f— you.”

The episode ends with one of the most iconic characters from the franchise dying, and it seems that there are more such surprises lying ahead in next week’s final episode of the season.
