Andor Season 2’s Elizabeth Dulau Explains [Spoiler]’s Death

Elizabeth Dulau has revealed new insights into Kleya Marki’s final mission in Andor Season 2, highlighting the emotional conflict behind her most difficult choice. In the final episodes, Kleya infiltrates a Coruscant hospital and disconnects the life support of the man who once rescued and raised her during the Clone Wars. Her actions end his life. They reflect years of internal struggle shaped by trauma, loyalty, and resentment.

“The key to Kleya’s mindset in that episode with the mission at the hospital is that she is entirely conflicted,” Elizabeth Dulau explained to TVLine.

Kleya’s relationship with Luthen stems from their first meeting 17 years earlier, when Sergeant Lear (Luthen) discovered young Kleya hiding in his ship during a brutal ground war. He kept her presence a secret, went AWOL, and created new identities for both of them. Luthen exposed Kleya to the war’s horrors and shaped her into a rebel.

In Episode 10, ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero captures Luthen and sends him to a Coruscant ICU after he attempts suicide. In Episode 11, Kleya infiltrates the hospital by triggering explosions on nearby landing pads to draw away guards. She disguises herself, enters Luthen’s room, detaches his life support, kisses his forehead, and leaves.

“She doesn’t forget” the horror of their first meeting, Dulau said, and “it was so horrific, she can’t forgive him and move on from that.” However, “love grows for him unintentionally over the years.”

Dulau explained that Kleya channels “the hate that she’s felt for him to help her do what she needs to do,” while her love for him “gets in the way.” These opposing emotions fracture Kleya during Episodes 11 and 12.

After killing Luthen, Kleya heads to the Coruscant safe house and contacts the rebels via radio. Cassian, Melshi, and K-2SO arrive at her location and extract her while dodging ISB Officer Heert.

A stun grenade wounds Kleya during the escape, and they bring her to Yavin for treatment. Cassian and Kleya share the “super weapon” intel with Mon Mothma and Bail Organa, but they remain skeptical.
