Sony Pictures has finally shared the official trailer for Anaconda, the highly anticipated horror comedy reboot led by Jumanji: The Next Level star Jack Black and Avengers: Doomsday star Paul Rudd. The movie will arrive in theaters on December 25, 2025.
“Doug and Griff have been best friends since they were kids, and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic ‘classic’ Anaconda,” reads the synopsis. “When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed……”

What happens in the Anaconda trailer?
The video introduces best friends Doug and Griff, portrayed by Black and Rudd, as they try to fulfill their dream of remaking their favorite movie, Anaconda. Despite the tight budget, they move forward with their plans by heading to the Amazon to film the reboot. However, after accidentally killing the snake they brought, they must embark into the forest and search for a replacement to save their movie. Unfortunately, during their search, they’ll encounter a real giant snake that’s going to relentlessly hunt them down. The trailer highlights some of the reboot’s thrilling and hilarious sequences, as Doug and Griff end up starring in a real-life version of their favorite movie.
The Anaconda reboot is directed by Tom Gormican, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Etten, based on the franchise created by Hans Bauer, Jim Cash, and Jack Epps Jr. Besides Black and Rudd, the cast also includes Brazilian actor Selton Mello (I’m Still Here) as Santiago, Thandiwe Newton (Westworld) as Claire Simons, Steve Zahn (The White Lotus) as Kenny Trent, Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) as Ana Almeida, and Ione Skye (Wayne’s World) as Malie McCallister.
The horror franchise began with the 1997 movie starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, and Owen Wilson. Due to its box office success, it spawned three sequels, including 2004’s Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, 2008’s Anaconda 3: Offspring, and 2009’s Anacondas: Trail of Blood, as well as a 2015 crossover, Lake Placid vs. Anaconda.
