With Viktor Hovland’s withdrawal from the Ryder Cup, Europe is just inches away from a historic victory. The last time the away team won was in 2012. Back then too, Europe had streamrolled the USA in Illinois, and the match is what we know today as ‘The Miracle of Medinah.’ Now, what one may call being upset by Team USA’s impending loss in Bethpage Black, several fans have come after Hovland, questioning the genuineness of his injury.

Golf podcaster Brendon Porath took to X to opine his controversial take. “Fans heckling Hovland, shouting that he looks fine and healthy.’ We’ll see you next week!’ We know he would play the Sanderson if he could,” he wrote on X.

This response comes after US players and the captain himself reacted strongly. Justin Thomas was seen shaking his head in disappointment after hearing the news. On the other hand, Keegan Bradley questioned the rare ‘Envelope Rule’ that he had to invoke after Hovland’s exit. “It’s a strange rule…He [Harris English] took it so well.”

Under the rule, Harris English will be barred from playing on the US’s side, with both teams getting half a point each. This has given another extra lead to Europe who was already dominating.

This is a developing story…
