Chloë Sevigny starred in the original 2000 American Psycho, and recently said that she’d love to join Luca Guadagnino‘s upcoming adaptation.
What did Chloë Sevigny say about American Psycho?
Speaking to IndieWire in a recent interview, Sevigny mentioned that she pitched the idea of returning to Guadagnino, mentioning that she could play the same role — Jean — in the new film, and be de-aged.
“When I heard that [Luca Guadagnino] was maybe doing it, I don’t know if he is for sure. I thought he was doing a World War II picture,” Sevigny said. “I pitched to him that I should play Jean again, and that they do that reverse aging on me. I thought that would be something that he would be into, conceptually having the same actress play the same part. But I don’t know. He said he was going to think of something else for me.”
In the 2000 film, Sevigny plays the role of Jean, Patrick Bateman’s (Christian Bale) secretary. She goes to Bateman’s apartment one night, and is told to leave by Bateman before he ends up hurting her. Later in the film, Jean finds a disturbing journal of Bateman’s in his office.
Sevigny and Guadagnino have previously worked together, with the actress starring in Guadagnino’s upcoming movie After the Hunt.
Last year, it was reported that this film won’t be a remake and instead an entirely new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel. Currently, no other information about the movie, including who may appear in it or when production is set to start, is known.
Guadagnino has been a busy man over the past two years. In 2022, the director released the romantic horror film Bones and All starring Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet. Last year, Guadagnino returned with Challengers, the romantic sports comedy-drama starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist. Guadagnino’s 2024 wasn’t over, either, as the director released historical romance drama Queer last November.
