Amazon’s The Wheel of Time Canceled After 3 Seasons

The Wheel of Time has been canceled by Amazon Prime Video after three seasons.

Developed by Rafe Judkins, The Wheel of Time is a Prime Video show based on the book series of the same name by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. The first season premiered in November 2021, while Season 2 followed in September 2023 and Season 3 in March 2025.

Why did Prime Video cancel The Wheel of Time?

Per Deadline, Prime Video has decided to end the show following the The Wheel of Time Season 3 finale. “As is often the case in the current economic environment, the reasons were financial as the series is liked creatively by the streamer’s executives,” the article notes.

Co-produced by Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM Studios, The Wheel of Time stars Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred, Daniel Henney as al’Lan Mandragoran, Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara, Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Dónal Finn as Mat Cauthon, Ceara Coveney as Elayne Trakand, Sophie Okonedo as Siuan Sanche, Kate Fleetwood as Liandrin Guirale, Natasha O’Keeffe as Lanfear, Ayoola Smart as Aviendha, and more.

“The Wheel Of Time got off to a strong start in 2021 as Prime Video’s most-watched series premiere of the year and one of the platform’s Top 5 series launches of all time,” Deadline’s article further notes. “Three seasons in, the series has remained a solid performer but its viewership has slipped, with the fantasy drama dropping out of Nielsen’s Top 10 Originals chart after the first three weeks of Season 3 while staying on the list for the entire runs the previous two seasons.”

The Wheel of Time Season 3 will still have an Emmy campaign from Prime Video and Sony TV. All three seasons of the show can now be watched on Amazon Prime Video.
