The release date for the second season of The Creep Tapes has been confirmed.

The deranged horror series, based on the films created by Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, arrived last year and took Shudder by storm.

It sits at an impressive 77% score from both critics and audiences alike on Rotten Tomatoes, with the first season seeing Duplass reprise his role as the mysterious serial killer who documents his brutality via videotapes.

Fans were almost immediately calling for more episodes, with a second season being greenlit earlier this year.

To coincide with the first three new episodes being screened at Fantastic Fest, Shudder has announced that season two of The Creep Tapes will premiere on Shudder and AMC Plus on November 14.

The six-episode season will feature guest stars David Dastmalchian, Robert Longstreet, Katie Aselton, Diego Josef, and Desean Terry.

Alec Bewkes, Linas Phillips, Taylor Garron, Timm Sharp, Jody Lambert, and Jeff Man are also set to appear.

A synopsis reads: ‘Season two will continue to expose a collection of videotapes from the secret vault of the world’s deadliest and most socially uncomfortable serial killer (Duplass).

‘Unfortunately, as the tape rolls, the killer’s questionable intentions surface with his increasingly odd behaviour, and the victims will learn they may have made a deadly mistake. ’

Fantastic Fest attendees lucky enough to get a glimpse of The Creep Tapes season 2 have already shared their praise for the ‘twisty’ and ‘morbidly funny’ show.

In their review, The HoloFiles wrote: ‘Just when you think this concept has been taken in every possible direction, the duo come up with another twist or subversion of expectations.’

Heaping praise on Duplass’ performance, they added: ‘There is something so enduringly and morbidly funny about watching Duplass lure people in with his friendliness, charm, and quirkiness. We know what his character intends to do, but the audience doesn’t, creating this uncomfortable yet humorous inevitability in each episode.’

On X, Tessa Smith said: ‘The Creep Tapes season 2 starts off extremely strong! The first three episodes offer a variety of twisted tales, each bringing something new, exciting, & slightly terrifying to the screen.

‘It’s a complete joy watching David Dastmalchian & Mark Duplass together.’

On Bluesky, Phil Nobile Jr added: ‘Creep Tapes season 2 proves that Brice and Duplass are far from done with this premise. The gore and laughs are ramped up but the real fun is watching them push the envelope they created.’

Horror fans were first introduced to ‘Josef’ (Duplass) in the 2015 found footage film Creep, which saw the killer hire struggling videographer Aaron (Brice) to film his day-to-day life, telling him that he was dying and wanted to make a tape for his wife and unborn child.

Creep 2 saw Josef, now under the name Aaron, hiring YouTuber Sara (Desiree Akhavan) and telling her he would let her live if she recorded a documentary about his life.

The Creep Tapes premieres on Shudder via Amazon Prime Video on November 14
