Ruben Amorim has revealed that Amad Diallo will miss Manchester United’s Premier League match against Brentford this weekend after he was granted compassionate leave following a death in his family.

The 23-year-old has started United’s last two games and was in contention for United’s trip to Brentford this Saturday.

‘Amad is not here, someone in his family passed away so we are giving all the support to Amad,’ Amorim said on Friday.

‘We understood that it was important to him to have his time to return home.’

Amad is one of four United players who will not be part of the squad to face Brentford, alongside the suspended Casemiro and long-term absentee Lisandro Martinez.

Noussair Mazraoui has also been ruled out until the October international break, which starts after next Saturday’s match against Sunderland at Old Trafford.

Amorim also urged Amad to ignore criticism on social media following the backlash he received for posting a picture alongside Alejandro Garnacho in the aftermath of United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea last Saturday.

‘I always tell my players – shut down social media,’ Amorim said.

‘Nowadays it is a price you have to pay but the important thing is that the club and the friends, that is real life for Amad, we are here for him.

‘It is a tough moment and in this moment the next game is not important. We can win this game without Amad and we want to win it also for Amad.’
