After Penny, Will More Big Bang Theory Stars Return in Stuart Spin-off? Creators Have Answered

The creators of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe have addressed whether more stars from The Big Bang Theory will appear in Season 2. Following Penny’s return, executive producers Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady say they want to bring back familiar faces, but fans shouldn’t expect a full reunion just yet.

Chuck Lorre wants more Big Bang Theory legacy actors back for Stuart Season 2

Speaking about the show’s future, Lorre confirmed that bringing back original cast members remains a core goal. “We’re certainly going to try,” he told Gold Derby. “It was fun for us, too. One of the premises of this thing from the very beginning was that the legacy actors from The Big Bang Theory could appear in some other incarnation and make it fun for them as well.”

Prady echoed that sentiment, noting he enjoyed “finding small parts and recurring those people as well.” The first season already welcomed Mayim Bialik, Melissa Rauch, Kunal Nayyar, and Kaley Cuoco. Lorre called working with them “a lot of fun,” adding that giving them “an opportunity to stretch a little bit” has been “built into this from the beginning.”

On the topic of different versions of Jim Parsons’ Sheldon, Johnny Galecki’s Leonard, or Simon Helberg’s Howard, Prady teased to Deadline, “Tune in next season.” Lorre kept the door open. “There’s always a chance. We’re not going to limit ourselves as to cameos.”

He continued, “If it’s possible and it can be done, great.” As for whether Tommy Walker’s Gary might die again, Lorre, during his interaction with Gold Derby, suggested fans “can reasonably expect to see some of them and, perhaps, seeing Tommy Walker die a few more times.”

Moreover, one of the executive producers has revealed the writers’ room started working last week, with production eyed for January or February. A California tax break keeps the show in Los Angeles with its “best crews in the world.” Penn promised a quicker turnaround: “It’s not going to be like two years between seasons. It’s going to come out next year.”

With the creators openly courting more Big Bang Theory alumni, Season 2 of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe could feature even more multiverse surprises.
