The city of LA needs all the help it can and Miami Heat star Kevin Love is stepping up. As per the reports, the Los Angeles wildfires are set to cost over $52 billion in damages and losses. Thus making it the most expensive disaster in California’s history. Thousands of structures and families have been affected. But there is no doubt that the mental impact on the children in this tragic scenario can be huge. And this is where Love wants to be of help.

The Miami Heat star emphasized that his ‘Kevin Love Fund’ intends to commit to standing with the people of Los Angeles.

“In the days to come, we will begin offering free virtual sessions to provide LA-based educators with trauma-informed strategies to support their students… Virtual support sessions for first responders that will offer methods for caring for their mental health during this difficult time,” he wrote on Instagram.

Before this, Love highlighted his bond with Los Angeles. And how the city will always hold a special place in his heart. “Having been born at St John’s Hospital, and with my family’s first home being in Pacific Palisades. As a former Bruin, this city shaped me not just as an athlete but as a person.”

Further laying down the importance of mental health amid such a tragic situation, Kevin Love announced the aforementioned help through his non-profit organization.

This help comes amid much-needed $1 million financial help from Jamie Lee Curtis. Yep, the Halloween star has committed to donate $1 million to a relief fund for the impacted communities. “I’m in communication with Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass and Senator Schiff as to where those funds need to be directed for the most impact,” she wrote.

While there is no confirmation where these funds would be directed, reports suggest that Pacific Palisades has suffered the most damage. This includes more than 5,300 structures being damaged or destroyed in the hilly coastal neighborhood. Even significant influential names come from this neighborhood.

One such name is Kawhi Leonard.

Kawhi Leonard is among the few lucky ones to escape the wrath of the LA fire so far

Imagine the panic of seeing your home threatened by a relentless wildfire—smoke, ash, and uncertainty clouding your every thought. For Leonard, this nightmare came close to reality. But thankfully, his Pacific Palisades home has remained intact so far, as reported by TMZ.

A photo of Leonard’s mansion taken on Wednesday showed a light layer of ash coating the property, but the structure itself stood firm. Updates as of Thursday confirmed no further damage—a rare stroke of luck in such dire circumstances.

For Leonard and his family, this must come as a massive relief, especially as others nearby weren’t as fortunate. Lakers head coach JJ Redick, for instance, tragically lost his home in the fires.

The wildfires have already consumed over 17,000 acres. Thus forcing Leonard to step away from the Clippers to ensure his family’s safety. Such circumstances make it clear why gestures like that of Kevin Love are very much needed and appreciated.
