Adam Scott just broke his silence on Severance Season 3, and fans will want to hear what he had to say. The actor shared a promising production update that addresses the long wait between seasons.

Adam Scott confirmed on the Today Show that Severance Season 3 is currently in production. The actor appeared alongside host Craig Melvin and shared a brief but exciting update about the Apple TV series. Scott told Melvin, “Shooting is officially underway for Season 3,” before adding coyly, “And that’s it.”

Melvin pressed Scott on whether fans would face another three-year gap between seasons. Severance Season 2 premiered in 2025, three years after Season 1, due to SAG and WGA strike delays. Scott responded, “We’re doing everything we can to try and make sure that doesn’t happen. You never know.” He then added, “We want to make the best show possible, so whatever it takes.”

The actor also revealed they are a few weeks into filming but noted they “just started.” Melvin jokingly called Scott’s answers “so disciplined in a non-message.” When asked if production would wrap by Christmas, Scott gave no definitive answer.

Executive producer Ben Stiller had previously hinted at production starting through a cryptic July 27 tweet. He wrote, “‘To return to work is to return home,’ Kier Eagan.” Series creator Dan Erickson also posted an image of Helly and Mark running through Lumon Industries halls on Instagram last month.

Apple purchased Severance from Fifth Season, the original production company, in February. Fifth Season will remain as an executive producer on the series going forward. The deal mirrored Apple’s earlier acquisition of Silo from AMC Studios.

Severance led the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards with 27 nominations and took home eight awards. Britt Lower and Tramell Tillman won for their lead and supporting performances respectively. Apple has not yet announced an official release date for Season 3.
