A women accused television star Ashish Kapoor of rape during a Delhi house party last month, leading to his arrest on September 3, 2025. Kapoor is well-known for his roles in Saraswatichandra, Dekha Ek Khwaab, and Molkki Rishton Ki Agnipariksha. Ashish was given bail by Delhi's Tis Hazari Court on Friday, September 12, 2025, but he must adhere to certain rules, according to ANI.
What did the court say?
While granting the bail, the Additional Sessions Judge Bhupinder Singh said, "Thus, in view of the aforesaid observations and discussions, the facts and circumstances that have been brought to the notice of the court in view of the documents/ CCTV footages, in particular that the accused is not required for the purpose of investigation any more, being permanent resident of Delhi and his clean antecedents, I find merits in the bail application and the same is accordingly allowed."
Inquiry had lapses
The Judicial Magistrate First Class Central District only granted the police four days of PC detention for Ashish, despite their request for five days. But in just three days, he was brought before the court.
The court noted that the inquiry contained lapses. It said, "Despite having been taken on PC remand, no sincere efforts were made to recover the mobile phone. No searches, as per law, were carried out. There is nothing on record that the accused did not cooperate in the investigations."
Ashish Kapoor will now require to...
According to reports, Ashish is subject to specific requirements even though he has been granted bail. The actor has been ordered to sign a one-lakh rupee bail bond. He must constantly have location service enabled on his cell phone.
