Karma is sweet when served hot, and Aaron Judge knows how to serve it the right way. In the high-stakes finale against the Red Sox, the Yankees may have dropped the game, but Judge made sure his presence was felt loud and clear.

Remember the Red Sox rookie Hunter Dobbins’ bold statement that added extra heat to an already fiery rivalry? “My dad was a diehard Red Sox fan,” Dobbins said just before the finale. “And I’ve said it before, that if the Yankees were the last team to give me a contract, I’d retire.”

Well, while Boston walked away with the win, Judge walked away with a sweet revenge. Was it a payback? The Yankees captain addressed it himself, straight from the dugout. Dobbins’ statement was enough to stir up the Yankees fans. But then, we got another level of heated response from the Bombers. So, even when Aaron Boone wrote it off with “he is young,” the Bleacher Creatures were waiting for a strong rebuttal. It came and how!

A few hours after the Red Sox rookie ran his mouth, Aaron Judge let his bat do the talking. The man stepped up to the plate and wasted no time as he unloaded on the very first pitch he saw from Dobbins. A 98 mph fastball left up in the zone! Judge launched it with authority, sending the ball 436 feet to right-center.

Well, we hope the Yankee fans went home satisfied despite the 11-7 loss.

Wondering what was going on in Aaron Judge’s mind? Was he looking for a payback? “Once somebody tells you, yeah,” Judge responded.

Aaron Judge on Hunter Dobbins’ comments:

“I really didn’t hear about it until Eduardo Pérez told me before the game. I’ve only heard Ken Griffey say that, so I was a little surprised.”

Were Dobbins’ comments in Judge’s mind in the first inning?

Aaron Judge also added that he knew only Ken Griffey Jr. had said something like this, and hence, he was surprised initially. But chose not to respond to him. That’s the Judge we know: Calm and composed, and let the bat talk!

For the unversed, Ken Griffey Jr. had made it clear during his career that there was one jersey he would never wear – the Pinstripes. Griffey has long held firm that his refusal stemmed from how both he and his father, Ken Griffey Sr., were treated by the organization. While this was an issue a long time back, Dobbins just reignited the controversy and well, kinda got served…

Aaron Judge is the lone hope amid the Yankees’ poor show

“He’s probably the best hitter on the planet right now,” Paul Goldschmidt exclaimed. “And he’s been doing it for multiple years, too. It’s not a one-night thing.”

That sums up Aaron Judge for you. Yes, he is no new to hitting homers and offering clutch moments, but this year, he is taking things a notch above. Just this game, Judge hit two homers. He crushed Dobbins’ sixth pitch for a towering two-run homer. And then, just to silence any remaining doubt, he went deep again in the ninth.

Now, with 23 home runs on the season, Aaron Judge is tied with Shohei Ohtani for second, trailing only Cal Raleigh, who leads with 26.

But despite it all, we cannot forget the Yankees’ poor pitching show under the lights of Aaron Judge. The series loss to the Red Sox is just another example of how their pitching division imploded.

The major concerning point is Carlos Rodon. He has put up a solid 2.87 ERA over 84.2 innings this season. A number any rotations would gladly take. But for the Yankees, it’s not just about the ERA. Rodon’s inconsistency continues to be a concern. That issue resurfaced in his latest outing against the Red Sox, where the left-hander struggled to find rhythm. He gave up a pair of home runs, including a crushing three-run blast to Carlos Narvaez.

So, while Aaron Judge is making every hit memorable, his team’s performance is increasingly getting far away from the October dreams. And for Judge to get that long-desired ring, his team needs to power through!
