It's no great secret that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Its developers were constantly gushing about their love and admiration for classic RPGs, and, as someone with similarly strong feelings about the Final Fantasy series, it was one of the things that first got me interested in the game. To my satisfaction, Clair Obscur did immense justice to the legacy of turn-based Final Fantasy. As I said in my review of Clair Obscur, "If I were to make a wishlist of everything I wanted out of a turn-based RPG, it would tick every box."
