A Sweet (and Soggy) Spring Update with a Yellow Brick Road and Bees!

What a week it’s been—full of beautiful moments, a few bumps in the road, and lots of bee talk!

We kicked things off by picking up our newest sets of honeybees and getting them settled into their new hives.

It’s always a special time of year when the buzzing returns to our backyard, and we get to start fresh with the hives.

A person wearing a beekeeping suit tends to a beehive in a wooded area, sunlight from the Sweet Spring Update filtering through the trees.

Even better? We had the joy of teaching a beekeeping class to a group of kids!

A group of children and adults enjoy a sweet spring update as they watch a beekeeper in protective gear demonstrating equipment on a driveway; some adults stand in the background near parked cars and a brick building.

Rich absolutely loved sharing about bees, beekeeping, God’s incredible design, and even weaving in the gospel.

There’s just something amazing about watching kids light up when they learn about the way God created these little creatures with such purpose.

Four women sit closely together on an outdoor bench in sweet spring sunshine, smiling at the camera. One holds a red purse and smartphone. Trees and a sidewalk are visible, capturing a bright moment perfect for a spring update.

On the fun side of things, I got to enjoy a girls’ night out to see The Wizard of Oz ballet with my mom, sister, and daughter.

A group of dancers in colorful costumes perform on stage with a painted farm backdrop, including a barn and silo, capturing the energy of sweet spring under vibrant stage lights.

It was such a beautiful performance, and we had the best time together.

These moments of memory-making are truly the ones I treasure most.

Two men pose for a selfie at a baseball stadium during a spring update; one smiles as the other flashes a peace sign, with crowds filling the seats in the background.

While we were off skipping down the yellow brick road, my son was with Rich at a Tigers game where they caught up with my brother-in-law and nephew.

It makes my heart so full to see everyone connecting and spending quality time together in different ways.

But not everything this week was picture-perfect.

The heavy spring rains brought some flooding issues to deal with early in the week, and we’ve also been having some trouble with our well.

We’re hoping a limit switch replacement, a pressure adjustment, and a good cleaning will buy us enough time to save up for the inevitable full well pump replacement—which, as you might imagine, isn’t cheap.

We’re praying for provision and wisdom as we navigate it all.

Weekly Wins

This week’s win? Walmart+ delivery came through in a big way!

I was able to get the sugar we needed for our bee syrup delivered just in time—literally right before the rain rolled back in.

That syrup is so important for feeding our new honeybees while they wait for more flowers to bloom.

Speaking of flowers… if you’ve driven by our yard lately, you might’ve noticed a lot of dandelions popping up.

I know they’re not everyone’s favorite, but around here, they’re gold—literally food for our bees!

That’s why I’m holding off on mowing the lawn for a couple more weeks.

It might not look picture-perfect, but it’s a small way we can help support the bees while nature catches up.

Sometimes a simple delivery and a little delay in yard work is all it takes to make a big difference.

If you haven’t tried Walmart+ yet, you can grab a free membership to use for 30 days right now!

Favorite Find

Look at this gorgeous soap dispenser I scored at Goodwill for just $1.99! (I double-checked the tag because I couldn’t believe the price!)

I’m totally in love with the carved detail and earthy texture—it gives off such a warm, vintage vibe.

It’s one of those pieces that instantly makes a space feel special, and I can’t wait to add it to our bathroom sink.

There’s something so satisfying about finding something beautiful and unique for next to nothing.

Thrift store wins like this remind me why I always take a quick peek down the home goods aisle.

You never know what little gem is waiting there!

What I’m Watching/Reading/Listening to:

This song has been on repeat for me lately.

Flowers by Samantha Ebert featuring Seph Schlueter is so beautifully written—gentle, reflective, and full of truth.

It’s one of those songs that just slows you down in the best way and helps you breathe a little deeper.

The lyrics remind me of how God brings beauty out of brokenness, how He plants seeds in quiet seasons that bloom in time.

It’s been such a peaceful and encouraging soundtrack to my days lately.

If you need a moment of stillness and hope, I definitely recommend giving it a listen.

Listen to it here.

Life has its ups and downs, but I’m reminded through it all that God is in every detail—the sweet moments, the soggy ones, and even the unexpected repairs.

Thanks for following along and being part of our little corner of the world.
