A ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Alum's Prayer Has Been Answered as He’s Tapped to Direct Madonna Series

Impactful to the world around them. There are individuals who deserve to have their stories immortalized on screen, and the iconic singer, Madonna, perhaps falls into the category. Now, a new Madonna biopic miniseries is in early development at Netflix, in a collaboration that includes the iconic singer herself and a Stranger Things director, Shawn Lewy. This is not the first time the singer is subject to a biopic, as Universal Pictures was developing a project for theatrical release. Julia Garner was attached to star as the famous musician, the Material Girl, but development plans hit a snag in 2023, and fell through. By the following year, in July 2024, Madonna revealed she was penning a new draft of the film's script while still set to direct the project.
