Beginning on October 2, 1950, Charles M. Schulz launched Peanuts with humble beginnings hardly resembling the iconic legend that'd appear in 2,600 newspapers worldwide in its heyday, creating perhaps the biggest multimedia franchise of any comic strip. The series is iconic, but its debut year had fewer elements to work with: Schroeder wouldn't appear until the next year, Linus and Lucy wouldn't be introduced until 1952, and others like Pig-Pen would follow in the coming years beyond. Simply put, Peanuts in 1950 laid the foundation, with small hints of what even its then-established characters would become.
